U.S. NAVY - RATINGS

Navy ASVAB Scores

Minimum AFQT, how line scores work, and the score needed for every entry-level Rating

Minimum AFQT: 31

The Navy requires an AFQT of at least 31 for applicants with a high school diploma. Some programs and ratings set a higher AFQT floor.

How the Navy Scores Jobs

The Navy does not use named composite scores. Each rating adds up specific section standard scores, such as VE + AR + MK + GS, and sets a minimum total. Many ratings accept more than one combination.

Navy line scores are simple sums of standard scores, and each standard score averages 50. A four-section sum of 200 is about average.

Popular Navy Jobs

Every Navy Rating and Its Minimum Score

Each minimum is a sum of section scores, such as VE + AR + MK + GS = 208. A job with "or" can be reached more than one way; a job with "and" needs every score listed.
