What a MK Does
MKs keep engines and machinery running, including diesel engines, hydraulics, heating and cooling, and basic electrical systems. Because they know boat systems so well, many MKs also train to do law enforcement boardings. At small units an MK often leads the engineering department, and MKs serve at nearly every Coast Guard unit.
