EM Electrician's Mate

What a EM Does

EMs install and repair electrical equipment on cutters and at shore units, including generators, power distribution, propulsion motors, and control systems. Training covers electrical theory, circuits, programmable logic, and fiber optics. At small units an EM may run the whole engineering department as the Engineering Petty Officer.

Scores That Count for EM

• MK + EI + GS: Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, General Science. Study: Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, General Science

Coast Guard line scores are simple sums of standard scores, and each standard score averages 50. A two-section sum of 100 is about average.
