What a DC Does
DCs are the Coast Guard's hands-on builders and fixers, trained in welding, pipefitting, plumbing, and carpentry. On a cutter they lead firefighting and flooding response, keep damage control gear ready, and train the crew for emergencies. Ashore they help maintain buildings and base facilities at support units.
